Built in 18th century the monument
(Maqbara) to Bundelkhad Kesari Maharaja Chhatrasal is an octagonal
structure from architecture point of view. Its gate is arched
and decorated. It was built of stone , bricks and lime. On entry
through the entrance gate one finds a spherical pillared verandah
to the right and left and interior walls depict rathikas.
Its upper portion is decorated with colour wall paintings of different
manners. The Samadhi of Maharaja Chhatrasal is situated in the
middle with a pradakshina path (ambulatory) around it.
The shikhara is dome shaped with shades (chhajja) built
all around.

The state protected monument is the samadhi of Maharaja Chhatrasal's spouse Maharani Kamalapati. It is an octagonal structure situated on a high platform. Inside the monument there is a spherical pradakshina path around the garbha-griha. There are latticed ventilations on all four sides. Built in 17th century the monument is a fine example of Bundeli style. The upper walls are decorated with colour paintings of different types. |

Maqbara of Berchha Rani

Built in 17 century the Makbara
of Maharaja Chhatrasal's another wife is a state protected monument
popularly known as Bercha Rani Ka Maqbara. This epitomizes the
beautiful and rich Bundeli art and style. The small domes on it
are decorated with wall paintings. Two of the domes depict Krishna
Leela and its exterior is decorated with lotus petals.

Maheba Gate |
Built by Maharaja Chhatrasal in 17th century the gate represents the rich Bundeli art. It was built to connect Maheba and Sahania. This huge entrance has two gates. The arched structure is a state protected monument. |

Bhim Kund Temple Group |

This is a state protected group
of temples where four small temples are situated in a row opposite
the main temple. The stone temple is a pancharathi type.
on the basis of style it belongs to 8-9th century. A step-well
has been constructed just in front of the main temple.

Built in 17th century during the period of Maharaja Chhatrasal, this famous monument exemplifies the rich Bundeli art. This fortress was built for residential purpose to escape the excessive heat in the peak of summer. Its interior is decorated with foliage patterns. As a state protected monument this fortress has a special importance. |

Maqbara of Sawai Singh

Built in 19th century, this state protected monument is a fine example of Bundeli style. There are four bastions on all four corners of the monument. There a spherical dome on the samadhi site and four smaller domes are built around it. The exterior upper portion of these domes is decorated with bloomed lotus petals. The samadhi has a pradakshina path (ambulatory) around it and its upper portion is decorated with colour paintings. Similarly, the edges of interior upper walls of the samadhi are decorated with colour paintings. |

Built in 8-9th century the Ganesha
temple is a state protected monument. This stone temple
is of pancharathi shikhar style. Both sides of the jambs
of the gate have river goddesses and Hirak decoration.

Yogini temple is situated near the Ganesha temple. This temple
is only a verandah supported by pillars on which Dev Kulikas
are carved. This is a state protected monument

Bihariji Ka Mandir |

Built in 17-18th century the
Bihariji Ka Mandir is a state protected monument. Grand metal
idols of Radha-Krishna occupy the garbha-griha, which
are worshipped with due rituals. The dome of the temple is spherical
and four small domes are built around it. The monument has a prdakshina
path with a verandah.

Built in 11th century this east-facing
temple is of pancharathi type. The temple has mandap
and garbha-griha and the jangha portion of the
temple is built on pillars. The top portion of the temple is mutilated
and attempt has been made to rebuild it with bricks. It is a state
protected monument.

This east-facing temple of Pratihar period was built around 10-11 century. The garbha-griha of the temple still survives. Having pancharathikas it is of shikhar style. The temple is dedicated to Shiva. |

Surya Mandir ,Chhatarpur |
Built around 13th century it is a monument of later Chandel period. Having pancharathikas the temple is of shikar style. An image of Ganesh is carved on the lalat bimb( lintel piece) of the gate of the antaral portion of the ancient temple, which suggests that the temple is dedicated to Shiva Parivar. Subsequently the Surya idol was brought to the garbha-griha from outside due to which it is now known as Surya Mandir. This state protected monument is very rich from artistic point of view. |

This is a historic rock shelter in the caves near hills of Devara village, having paintings of human and animal and bird figures in ochre colour. These rock shelters of Chhatarpur district are very important from archaeological point of view. |

Shiva Mandir , Brijapura |

This state protected monument was built in 10th
century AD. Idols of Brahma, Vishnu and Shiva occupy the Kulikas
in the left portion of the monument. In the exterior Kulika
of the antaral portion there is a Ganesh idol on
one side and that of Chamunda on the other. The images of Ashta
Digpals are carved on all four corners of the temple.

Built in 18th century the fort of Kishangarh is a fine example of Bundeli style. The interior of the state protected monument is divided into two portions. At that time it had special importance from strategic point of view. |

Saderi is of sapatarathi type. Built around 9th century
this is a state protected monument. A Shivalinga is installed
in the monument and a Ganesha idol occupies the lalat bimb.
The mandap and shikar of the garbha-griha
are now gone.

Fort of Gulganj |
Built around 18th century the fort of Gulganj is a state protected monument. This is an important structure of Bundeli style. The fort is two-storyed and the interior of the fort is divided into two portion. There are bastions for defence purposes in the fort. A flight of steps leads into the basement of the fort and a step well has been constructed beside it. The fort had once strategic importance. |

Chaturbhuj Vishnu Temple,
Achatta
|

Situated near village Achatta the Chaturbhuj
temple is a state protected monument. An imposing and grand idol
of Chaturbhuj Vishnu occupies the garbha-griha of the
temple. On both sides of the doorframe figures of river goddesses
are carved and the Sirdal portion is also decorated.
The mandap before the garbha-griha is in a ruined
state. Some portion of the temple has been reconstructed and whitewashed
with lime.

Dhanushdhari Mandir,Alipura |
Built in 18-19th century the state protected monument of Dhanushdhari temple is a classic example of Bundeli style. The idols of Rama and Sita are installed in the garbha-griha of the temple. The interior of the roof of the courtyard has colour paintings of foliage pattern and there are unique paintings of Mithun scenes in the middle of the rooms of exterior. |

Built in Bundeli style the Pratapju
temple is situated in Khajuraho. At present the temple is devoid
of any idol. The state protected monument was built in19th century
by Bundela rulers of Chhatarpur.

The samadhi sthal ( Makbara) of former ruler of Chhatarpur State Maharaja Pratap Singh is a state protected monument. It was built in later part of 19th century. The monument represents a beautiful blend of Bundeli and Rajput styles. An urn containing the ashes of Maharaja Pratap Singh Dev is placed in the garbha-griha. |
