STATE PROTECTED MONUMENTS OF DAMOH
Rukamani Math , Kundalpur

Rukmani Math is a state protected monument. The
legends associate it with the Rukmani of Mahabharat period. Built
on pillars and stone slabs the roof of this massive structure
is built of stone slabs. Built around 12-13 century the math is
rectangular. Kundalpur is an important centre of Jainism.

| The fortress of Rani
Damyanti, a state protected monument , was built in 15th century
during the regime of Gayasuddin Shah Khilji. The fortress is a fine
example of Muslim architecture. The defence walls of the fortress
are arched. Bastions are built on the corners of the fortress. In
the middle of the parapet there exists an apsidal palace consisting
of four rooms. The fortress is rectangular. At present the archaeology
museum of Zila Puratatva Sangh is housed in it. |
